Find out whether your invoices fit before you pay

Start with one representative file, check the fields against the source and open the exported workbook. For invoice PDFs, ParseMill puts extraction, source review and Excel export in one workspace so you can test the whole job before paying.

Inspect the interactive invoice sample, then try your own invoices. Eligible new workspaces get 10 pages for 7 days after email verification, with no card or automatic subscription.

Check the layout before choosing the extraction route

The checklist below describes the native-table method used for our public material example. The invoice trial also supports clear printed English PDF scans through OCR; that does not establish support for arbitrary reports or drawings.

Check your PDFA suitable starting pointRequires a different approach
TextWords can be selected and copiedScans or photographed pages need OCR first
HeadersExact single-word labels, such as Sample or ResultMerged or multi-line column headings
RowsValues align under their columnsNested tables, prose specifications, or diagram labels
ContinuationThe header repeats on each table pageContinuation pages without a recognisable header

Select a few words in your PDF viewer and paste them into a text editor. Selectable text is a useful initial check, but hidden OCR text or unusual positioning can still produce a poor table. Try one representative file before committing to a larger task.

Use the source’s column names

For our material example, the confirmed columns are Sample, Test, Result, Unit, Method. This matches the visible header on both pages. The native-table parser used for this public example expects exact single-word headers; renaming Result to Measured result is not an instruction to find equivalent data.

For invoice work, use the invoice workspace and review its extracted fields and line items. You can save a client setup or import an XLSX or CSV template. Test your supplier layouts directly; the material-example schema is not the invoice product configuration.

Make three checks before the download

  1. Completeness: the source has five table rows across two pages. The sample register should also have five, with no repeated header counted as a result.
  2. Meaning: the moisture result is < 0.0100, not 0.0100. Retain the comparator.
  3. Traceability: identify the source page for each row and resolve the comma in 1,234 before any numerical calculation.

Use Excel when you want the Sources and Exceptions sheets alongside the data. If you choose CSV, set identifier columns to text when importing into your spreadsheet.

Try a checkable example first

Open the precomputed material register. It is available without registration and includes the original PDF. This example uses a native-text material report. For your own invoice PDFs, the self-service trial supports native text and clear printed English scans. Uploads are bounded to 20 MB and 300 pages per PDF and your remaining page allowance; the trial includes 10 pages. Test broader report formats separately.
